Can you plant continental species of maple tree in equatorial highlands like Cameron Highlands, Malaysia?

Are you able to plant continental maple trees e.g. acer pseudoplatanus or acer macrophyllum etc in equatorial highlands areas like Cameron Highlands of Malaysia (1500m above sea level)?? Regardless whether the leaves will turn red or yellow or even fall off with the absent of autumn/winter.
